U.S. continuation of Section 301 tariffs on imports from China
The tariffs did not expire on their four-year anniversary dates.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) posted on its website a notice announcing that representatives of domestic industries benefiting from the tariff actions in the Section 301 investigation of China’s acts, policies, and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation have requested continuation of the tariffs—and thus the tariff actions have not terminated and will remain in effect, subject to possible further modifications, including any modifications resulting from the statutory four-year review.

The USTR in May 2022 published a notice announcing the first step in the statutory four-year review process of the two actions taken. The notice informed representatives of domestic industries which benefit from the actions of the possible termination of the actions and of the opportunity for the representatives to request continuation of the actions. USTR received requests for continuation of both actions from representatives of domestic industries that benefit from the actions. Read TradeNewsFlash
Accordingly, the tariffs did not expire on their four-year anniversary dates and USTR will proceed with the next steps as provided in the statute.
