KPMG LLP has prepared a reference guide for use by tax-exempt organizations to assist them as they prepare and file Form 990 for the 2021 tax year.

The KPMG reference guide, annotated Form 990* [PDF 6 MB] (August 2022) highlights modifications to the 2021 Form 990-series returns, schedules, and corresponding instructions (as well as the Form 4720 and instructions) for tax years beginning in 2021, and includes commentary on changes from the prior year’s versions of the forms.
