Gary leads the Consulting function at KPMG in Singapore with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.
He advises clients on a variety of issues within the financial services industry on regulatory and compliance matters. He has assisted financial institutions to establish a presence in Singapore and conducted internal audits for banks and capital markets. He has also conducted several risk and control framework reviews for global banks, as well as forensic fraud investigations (including cyber security intrusions) of several banks.
Besides his specialisation in regulatory compliance, Gary has also been working closely with the financial services industry and regulators in the area of financial technology. A notable project led by Gary included a collaboration with three banks to successfully deliver a proof of concept using blockchain technology for client onboarding. He was also the lead Partner driving industry discussions on the possible establishment of an eKYC utility in Singapore. Gary is very passionate about regulatory technology, specifically, the digitalisation of regulatory reporting where he has led the development of an end-to-end integrated regulatory reporting platform that provides financial operations and technology support to assist banks in Singapore with their regulatory reporting submissions.
