The session is tagged Technology, Tax and Financial Inclusion – A mix to drive growth! The Fintech industry is a fast-emerging sector of the Nigerian economy attracting up to two-thirds of all local start-up funding in recent years. The industry comprises various businesses such as payment solutions, cryptocurrency businesses, mobile money operators, some microfinance banks, money lenders etc.

However, there are certain tax and regulatory issues which currently serve as a bottleneck for the continued growth and development of the Sector. Conventional tax and regulatory rules which were developed to deal with conventional banking systems may not apply to the players in this Sector.

The primary objectives of the session is to create a platform where players and key agencies of Government in the tax and regulatory space would be allowed to engage and educate themselves on these issues amongst others and thereafter formulate a framework for addressing the issues in the short, mid and long term.
