Uzochukwu Obienu

Uzo currently leads the Oil and Gas (Upstream, Midstream & Downstream) Sector of the Tax ENR practice.

He is experience broadly covers Tax and Strategy. He has led various teams to provide tax advisory, compliance and due diligence services to local and multinational companies across the oil and gas value chain and was once seconded to the Nigerian subsidiary of one of the largest oil serving companies in the world as resident Tax Consultant.

He has also lead Strategy engagements primarily in the IGH space, notably, he was the Project Director for the Presidential Policy Dialogue in 2018 and Co- Director of the Petroleum Industry Act office-wide team 2021 - 2022.

Uzo is currently supporting policy reforms in the Nigerian tax space in his capacity as a member of the Presidential Implementation Working Group on the Petroleum Industry Act while still providing exceptional tax services to our top clients in the oil and gas industry.

He was the Lead, Strategy & Markets in the office of the National Senior Partner & Chairman, KPMG Africa where he  worked with the Senior Partner (SP) and EXCO members to develop, action and monitor strategic and markets focused initiatives for KPMG Nigeria and West Africa.

Uzo is a regular faculty at conferences/ seminars and the KPMG Tax Business School.
