Martins is a Partner in the Energy and Natural Resources unit of the Tax, Regulatory and People Services division of KPMG in Nigeria. He has over 16 years of professional experience advising clients on tax structuring, tax risk management, corporate tax planning, regulatory advisory and compliance projects for local and multinational organisations in various industries including oil & gas, power & utilities, infrastructure, servicing/trading sector, consumer markets and high networth individuals and investors. He also has deep competency in mergers and acquisitions tax advisory projects, due diligence as well as advisory services in planning and administration of pension and provident funds.
Martins has varied experience advising multi-national and national clients on Nigerian taxes and has proactively provided them with practical advice on how to manage any potential impact on their Nigerian operations. He has obtained relevant experience in other jurisdictions through a secondment to the UK practice where he worked on several engagements involving clients in both the energy and natural resources sectors and consumer markets.
Martins has authored several articles in both International and National journals on the power sector amongst several other topics of interest to investors in the country.
Martins has a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
