Tax Conversation on The Role of Mauritius International Financial Centre in the new Tax Landscape

KPMG has hosted a highly interactive Tax Conversation on 18 May 2016 at Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebène, featuring a panel of high level local and international tax experts, chaired by Mr Wasoudeo Balloo, Partner Head of Tax, KPMG in Mauritius.
The panelists comprised of Mr Girish Vanvari, National Head of Tax and Head of PE Tax at KPMG India, Mr Richard Ndungu (Head of the Tax and Regulatory services in the KPMG East Africa Practice, Mr Sujit Ghosh (Partner & Tax Litigator at Advaita Legal) and Mr Mustapha Mosafeer, former Director of the Mauritius Revenue Authority).
Discussions mainly focused on the role of Mauritius International Financial Centre in the new tax landscape.
During the Opening Speech, Mr John Chung, Managing Partner, stated that "Following years of India-centric offshore business activity, Mauritius is having to change its business model, and operators are having to undergo a paradigm shift. Different operators are at different points on this new journey.”
