We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Suren Rajakarier as Country Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka & Maldives, effective 1 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the firm’s continued journey of growth, excellence, and leadership.
With nearly four decades of distinguished experience in audit, assurance, and advisory services, Mr. Rajakarier has been a long-standing leader within the firm, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of the Audit practice, bringing a steady and strategic leadership presence built over nearly four decades. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with a wide range of multinational and leading local organisations, guiding them through complex financial reporting environments, governance matters, and strategic transactions with consistency and technical excellence.
His leadership has played a key role in strengthening the firm’s reputation for quality, integrity, and trusted client service. Over the years, he has been involved in several landmark engagements in Sri Lanka’s corporate sector, including major partnerships, divestments, and privatisation initiatives, while also contributing significantly to strengthening financial oversight within key public institutions. His work has helped shape important moments in the country’s corporate and institutional development journey.
Beyond client responsibilities, Mr. Rajakarier has been an active contributor to the advancement of the accounting profession in Sri Lanka. He currently serves as Chairman of the Statutory Auditing Standards Committee and as a member of the Statutory Accounting Standards Committee, both established under the Sri Lanka Accounting & Auditing Standards Act No. 15 of 1995. In these roles, he continues to support the development and refinement of national auditing and accounting standards, strengthening transparency, consistency, and the quality of financial reporting across the profession.
He succeeds Mr. Priyanka Jayathilake, who served as Managing Partner since April 2023 and made significant contributions to strengthening the firm’s Advisory and Technology capabilities while expanding its consulting offerings. Mr. Jayathilake, who previously led the Advisory & Technology practices and served as Managing Director of KPMG Technology Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., played a key role in establishing several specialist divisions that continue to support the firm’s long-term growth and transformation.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Priyanka Jayathilake for his leadership, commitment, and valued contributions over the years, and wish him continued success in his future endeavours.
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Suren Rajakarier as he steps into this important leadership role and look forward to his guidance in leading KPMG in Sri Lanka & Maldives into its next phase of growth, continued excellence, and lasting impact.
