Jeremy Lack

Appropriate Dispute Resolution Neutral and Attorney-at-Law
Topic: Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR): the key drivers for optimal process design and access to justice

Jeremy Lack is an Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Neutral and Attorney-at-Law who provides a broad range of international dispute prevention and resolution services. He specializes in complex commercial disputes, cross-cultural disputes, online dispute resolution, new technologies, start-ups and intellectual property matters. He is a member of the Independent Advisory Committee of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), a member of its “Mixed Modes” taskforce, and sits on the Board of the Swiss Chamber of Commercial Mediation (Section Romandie). Jeremy is a panelist with several international ADR institutions (including AAA/ICDR, CPR, CMAP, ICC, SCCM, SIMC, WIPO). He qualified as an English barrister in 1989, as a US Attorney-at-Law in 1990/1 (NY State, CAFC & USPTO) and is admitted to the Geneva Bar since 2003 as a foreign lawyer, and is a member of its ADR Commission. Jeremy is a Door Tenant with QUADRANT CHAMBERS (GB), counsel to HELVETICA AVOCATS SARL (CH) and LEGAL REBEL (NL), and a consultant to NEGO-MEDIATIONS SARL (CH). He also serves as general counsel to SONARSOURCE SA and MINDMAZE HOLDING SA, and as an ombudsperson to the DRUGS FOR NEGLECTED DISEASES INITIATIVE, a non-profit organization. He has served on several boards of directors and as a business executive for several start-ups. Jeremy has a MA (Oxon) degree in Physiological Sciences and in Jurisprudence from Lincoln College, Oxford University. He is a co-founder of www.neuroawareness.com, INNOVADR and several start-ups. Jeremy handles international negotiations, mediations, conciliations and arbitrations, and mixed modes of ADR processes in a wide range of fields and industries. He is a certified IMI mediator and mediation advocate and has written and lectured extensively on Guided Choice dispute resolution and the design of combined ADR processes to customize ADR proceedings early in on complex cases. Niamh Leinwather

Secretariat, Vienna International Arbitral Centre

Since 1 January 2022, Niamh Leinwather has taken office as the new Secretary General of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). Of Irish origin, Niamh has both a common and civil law background (Bachelor of Civil Law, University College Dublin, Mag.iur., University of Vienna, Master of European Studies, University of Vienna).

She was the first Irish woman to be admitted to the Austrian Bar in 2013 and has over a decade of experience in international dispute resolution at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Vienna where she acted as both counsel and arbitrator.

Prof. Dr. Adam Boóc

Full professor, Head of Department of Civil Law and Roman Law (Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Faculty of Law), arbitrator, attorney-at-law

Mr Boóc received his diploma in law with a quotation of summa cum laude at the Faculty of Law, Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences (Budapest) in 2002. He defended his PhD thesis with a quotation of summa cum laude at the Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 2008. He obtained his habilitation degree in 2018. He has been teaching civil law, Roman law and law of arbitration at the Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (Budapest) since 2008. He has been the Head of Department of Civil Law and Roman Law since 2017. He is an arbitrator enrolled at the Scroll of Arbitrators of the Arbitration Court Attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and he is also a registered arbitrator at the Economic Arbitration Court of Moldova. He has been active as practising attorney-at-law since 2006. Since 2019 he has been Board Member of the Hungarian Arbitration Association. In September 2021 he was appointed as full professor of law.

Vlad Peligrad PhD, LL.M.

Partner at KPMG Legal – Toncescu si Asociatii SPARL and Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice

Vlad is an arbitrator of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and he is a member of the administrative council and arbitrator of BIAC – Bucharest International Arbitration Court.

He has over 20 years of experience in legal services, with a strong focus on litigation and arbitration, insolvency procedures, fraud investigations and crisis management. Vlad assisted clients in various domestic and international arbitration cases under various rules of arbitration (including ICC, VIAC and LCIA). He has an LL.M. with the Law School of the George Washington University, Washington DC and a Ph.D in law. He has lectured extensively on corporate law and commercial law at the Law School of the University of Bucharest and usually publishes articles in law reviews, including on arbitration topics.

dr. Bálint Tóásó MSc LL.M (Vienna)

Managing Partner, Head of Legal Services, Attorney-at-Law - KPMG Legal Tóásó Law Firm

Bálint is the head of legal services at KPMG Hungary since 2016. He is qualified in Hungary as an Attorney-at-Law since 2009, he equally holds a degree in economics and management and also obtained a business law LLM degree at the University of Vienna. His main focus areas are M&A, dispute resolution, privacy and regulatory. Bálint has overseen a great number of M&A and restructuring transactions and directed big ticket compliance and regulatory projects. He is regularly advising clients on full-scale GDPR preparation and compliance projects. He has strong exposure to Legal Tech and AI regulatory issues as well.

dr. Manuela Grosu LL.M. PhD

Managing Associate, Attorney-at-law - KPMG Legal Tóásó Law Firm

Manuela joined KPMG Legal Tóásó Law Firm as an attorney-at-law in 2017. Her practice focuses on corporate, commercial law and commercial arbitration. She is a visiting lecturer at ELTE University, Faculty of Law at the Department of International Private Law and European Economic Law. She has a PhD in law, her doctoral thesis focused on combination of arbitration with mediation in resolving commercial disputes. She was a visiting researcher at Cardozo School of Law (New York), Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution. She has also obtained an LL.M. degree in US and Global Business Law for International Business Lawyers from Suffolk University (Boston).
