Important Update: Enhanced Flexibility for Non-EU Offshore Workers in Denmark

The Danish government has introduced several significant developments regarding the Danish "offshore scheme" for non-EU national workers, effective from 6 November 2025.

Under the new rules, non-EU national employees who are granted a residence and work permit for offshore work in Denmark will be allowed to leave and re-enter the country multiple times during the validity of their permit, and within a maximum six-months period, without the need to apply for a new permit for each rotation.

      Key changes include:

This change is expected to significantly benefit both companies and employees in the offshore sector. The new rules will:

      • Increase flexibility for offshore workers who require multiple rotations
      • Reduce administrative burdens and processing times
      • Lower costs for companies managing international assignments.

KPMG Acor Tax has actively contributed to the dialogue with Danish authorities to support greater flexibility and efficiency in the offshore scheme. We are delighted that our efforts have helped bring about these positive changes for the industry.
