Revised minimun salary requirements for 2026
Effective from 1 January 2026, the minimum gross salary requirements for residence and work permit applications will be updated. The updated thresholds apply to applications submitted based on the regular Pay Limit/Supplementary Pay Limit scheme as well as the relevant tracks under the Fast-track scheme.
For extension applications, if the applicant continues in the same position under unchanged employment terms and conditions, the application will be assessed based on the minimum salary threshold that was in effect at the time the original work permit was granted. However, the salary and terms of employment must still correspond to the Danish standards on the time of the submission of the application.
Scheme | 2025 annual salary threshold DKK | 2026 annual salary threshold DKK |
The Fast-track scheme’s Pay Limit track and the regular Pay Limit scheme | 514,000 | 552,000 |
The Fast-track scheme’s Supplementary Pay Limit track and the regular Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme | 415,000 | 446,000 |

Stricter documentation requirements for RUT registration
Foreign companies temporarily posting employees to Denmark will be required to submit additional documentation when completing the RUT registration. This new requirement applies exclusively to posted workers who are third-country nationals. The additional documentation applies for posting from 1 January 2026 and includes the following:
- A copy of the employee’s work permit
- A copy of the employment contract
- A copy of the service agreement between the foreign and Danish companies.
Intensified inspection based on the RUT registration
The Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet) will be granted the authority to suspend contractors’ activities (entreprenørstop) in cases of repeated violations of Danish occupational health and safety legislation. This determination will be based on more frequent inspections conducted by the authorities, with contractors receiving written notifications for each identified violation. In the event of a violation, various factors – such as the employment agreement uploaded to the RUT registration system –will be considered to determine the responsible employer. It is important to note that these regulations apply to both contractors and their subcontractors. As a result, if a contractor is ordered to cease activities, any subcontractors involved will also be affected.
Resumption of work will require contractors to notify the Danish Working Environment Authority of the corrective measures implemented to address the violations. Work may only recommence once the authority has reviewed and approved these measures.
Non-compliance with the RUT registration may result in fines ranging from DKK 10,000 to DKK 50,000 being imposed by the authority.
