Frank Sundgaard Nielsen is a Partner in Financial Services Advisory at KPMG, where he advises financial institutions on strengthening governance, risk and compliance. He joined KPMG in 2021 and became a partner in 2025, bringing more than 25 years of experience across the financial services sector.
Frank specializes in Internal Audit, Compliance and Risk Management engagements, drawing on practical exposure to all three lines of defence in banks and insurance companies. As a control function expert, he helps organizations design, assess, improve and operate their control functions and frameworks - covering operating models, policies and procedures, risk and control matrices, testing and monitoring, and reporting to executive management and the board. He leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver co-sourced internal audit, quality assurance reviews, regulatory readiness and remediation programs, and control transformation initiatives that are pragmatic, data-driven and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Known for his collaborative style, Frank works closely with senior stakeholders to tailor solutions to each client’s size, complexity and business model. He has strong leadership and communication skills and brings many years’ experience leading cross‑border teams.
