Nicolai Wirenfeldt Asmussen is Senior Manager in KPMG’s ESG Advisory Services, where he focuses on developing a new generation of audit processes and technologies. Nicolai joined KPMG in 2022 after having worked with IT and big data in the entrepreneurial space for 21 years. His experience spans multiple industries and areas including finance, insurance, health, marketing, import/export and many more, making him able to deliver cross-industry, best practice solutions to his clients.

With an educational background from the Danish Technical University (DTU), Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Nicolai sits at the intersection between technology and business. It is not just about AI, machine learning and data, it is about how it creates value through business strategy, risks and processes ranging from ESG to cyber security over finance.

From having taught programming at CBS while still a student, Nicolai continues to deliver guest lectures at both CBS and CPH Business on IT, data and entrepreneurship.

While having a solid, theoretical background, Nicolai’s approach to his clients is seen as relaxed and innovative, meeting client needs while matching client culture rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach onto everyone. Frequently, novel approaches are developed to ensure the best fit but always grounded in science and experience.

Nicolai sits as juror in several entrepreneurship competitions, serves on advisory boards, works pro bono as a mentor and sits on the board of two nonprofit foundations. You may also meet Nicolai in Rotary where he has been a member since 2007 or in Mensa where he has been a member since 2002.
