Mixed reality (MR) not only adds a virtual dimension to the real world, but also expands the view of many companies into the future. The innovative technology makes it possible to link objects in the real environment with virtual information such as three-dimensional graphics, images or texts in order to interact with them. The mutual exchange can be supported by artificial intelligence.

The areas of application for VR, AR and MR are becoming ever broader. New solutions are being developed every day with the aim of optimising processes or creating inspiring customer experiences. In various social networks, augmented reality has become the norm without anyone noticing.

Optimise processes & create inspiring customer experiences

Industrial sector solutions are even more exciting and innovative. Sophisticated mixed reality glasses are used here alongside smartphones and tablets. They allow the wearer to have their hands free during use.

Areas of application for mixed reality...

How is mixed reality shaping the future of the fashion and clothing industry? Through emotionalised and new shopping experiences for customers as well as comprehensive customer and sales data for companies and retailers.

Mixed reality can visualise the value chain

Innovative solutions from the field of mixed reality make it possible to redesign sales and storage areas as well as the entire value chain. By using MR glasses, for example, customers can virtually try on products in brick-and-mortar stores - even products that are not yet available or have not even been produced.

Customers are becoming increasingly aware of their purchases, and clothing in particular is being scrutinised more and more. Mixed reality allows the virtual visualisation of a product's value chain and relevant information alongside the real product. In this way, MR can fulfil the customer's desire for more transparency and strengthen trust in manufacturers and retailers. However, MR solutions not only enable customers to enjoy new and inspiring shopping experiences, but also provide companies with a valuable asset: data.

A new property begins with an idea and a design. More concrete are finished plans and models that have been thought through down to the last centimetre. But how do you visualise the finished property based on such plans? The answer today is computer-generated visualisations in 2D or 3D and miniature models.

Viewing planned properties using mixed reality glasses

Mixed reality uses three-dimensional, dynamic visualisation to create new ways of visualising planned properties and objects. If desired, properties can also be viewed in real size. Even during the planning process, various parties can inspect the planned property using digital visualisations and discuss adjustments before construction begins. Similarly, furnishings can be sensibly planned or adapted in advance using the three-dimensional visualisation.

Mixed reality can also support sales in the real estate sector. Potential buyers or investors can view properties independently of their location. The virtual experience of the property can make the sales process more emotional, and uncertainties about unfinished buildings can be easily dispelled.

When you think of private banking and wealth management, you don't usually think of innovation, digitalisation or mixed reality. But in the commercial banking business, online banking has replaced analogue transfers in bank branches, and fintech companies are flooding into the markets. The digital transformation is therefore also an issue for wealth management.

      Digital visualisation of the portfolio

In wealth management in particular, customers are looking for personalised and tailored advice. This is perfectly legitimate, especially for large assets and investment sums. However, time-consuming and costly administrative tasks as well as travelling to and from the client's home limit the available advisory time.

Consultations over the phone are usually only used for smaller agreements, but are unsuitable for more intensive and complex discussions and consultation appointments. Visual aspects cannot be realised over the phone either.

Mixed reality takes on this challenge. Mixed reality tools create an innovative advisory solution with an experiential character. Investments, shares and portfolios can be discussed in virtual space. Customers also have the option of viewing their investments independently and at any time.

If a machine breaks down, maintenance is due or a fault occurs, there are usually instructions or documentation to identify and solve the problem. But how and where do you find the right section in comprehensive documentation and instructions? If the right documents have been found, they are usually not available at the place of use.

Mixed reality glasses make maintenance processes easier

Mixed reality addresses these challenges. Faults, maintenance or problems can be recognised with a mixed reality application and a suitable solution can be provided virtually directly on site. Hands and movements are not restricted by holding documentation, a smartphone or tablet.

In addition to displaying visual data and objects, mixed reality solutions allow cross-room communication with other stakeholders such as engineers, technicians or colleagues. The camera on the glasses allows them to follow the processes, intervene or make recommendations, leaving the hands of the employee on site free for implementation.
