Business partners, investors, analysts, the media and consumers are increasingly evaluating companies on the basis of their sustainable behaviour - a sense of responsibility and commitment to climate protection are expected. An inventory of their own climate-relevant emissions as part of the carbon footprint serves companies as a basis for decision-making when it comes to deriving climate protection targets and setting the strategic course. But is that enough? A carbon footprint is only truly reliable and can only be communicated in a meaningful way if it has been independently verified. This is also becoming increasingly important for the recognition of your CSRD implementation.

The carbon footprint can be created company-wide as a "Corporate Carbon Footprint" (CCF). Or product-specific as a "Product Carbon Footprint" (PCF) for the entire life cycle or specific life cycle stages of a product or service. ISO standards 14064 and 14067 define a systematic approach to this. The aim of this series of standards is to create transparency, identify emission drivers and initiate innovations in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and the use of raw materials. KPMG Cert verifies both your product carbon footprint and your corporate carbon footprint.

Carbon footprint verification - our services

Verification by KPMG Cert as an accredited verification body for greenhouse gases proves that your carbon footprint has been prepared correctly and in accordance with standards and creates additional confidence in your sustainable actions in climate protection. Recognition CSRD.

  • Verification Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF): The "Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard" and "ISO 14064(1)" standards have become established internationally for the consistent preparation of a CCF. Our experts check and confirm your corporate carbon footprint in accordance with GHG, ISO or a combination of both.

  • Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) verification: The PCF is calculated on a product-specific basis for the entire life cycle or for specific life cycle stages of a product or service. We verify the calculation of your PCF on the basis of the combination of ISO standards 14067 and 14064-3.

  • Validation Calculation approach for the product carbon footprint (PCF approach): It is often necessary and helpful to first check the calculation approach for determining PCF. This is particularly useful if it is to be used to determine a large number of individual PCFs for a product group. Validation in accordance with Annex C of DIN EN ISO 14067 in combination with DIN EN ISO 14064-3 provides additional certainty with regard to the completeness and accuracy of the selected approach and confirms its fundamental applicability.
