Accreditation and licensing

Accreditation confirms the competence to carry out certain audits and examinations according to internationally defined standards. Accreditation ensures that we have, among other things, the necessary and qualified personnel, the required independence and a suitable corporate structure to carry out the audits and examinations. The accreditations are awarded according to economic areas (scopes), in which the professional knowledge required of the audit and inspection personnel is precisely defined.

Through regular inspections, we and our services are closely scrutinised, which means that any deviations from the high requirements can be detected immediately. Thus, accreditation provides reliable and trustworthy proof of our suitability.

In Germany, accreditations are treated as a sovereign task of the Federal Government and are exclusively granted by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS). The accreditations awarded are recognised internationally, as the DAkkS is itself a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

KPMG CERT GmbH is accredited by the DAkkS as an independent certification and verification body.

In addition, some of our employees are qualified as environmental verifiers or state-recognised experts. They are individually accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungs- und Zulassungsgesellschaft für Umweltgutachter mbH (DAU).

• the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA),
• the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) and
• the Düsseldorf District Government (Department 52.04.91 - Specialist waste management companies).
