Maria Karantoni, Head of People

Our people are at the heart of our business

Undoubtedly, one of the most important factors contributing to the success of an organisation is its people; this importance is even greater in the professional services industry. Embracing the expertise, skills and uniqueness of our people in conjunction with providing them with all necessary resources, tools and support they need, are the ingredients for our success. What is more, focusing on our people’s wellbeing remained a top priority during this past year! Our “BeWell@KPMG” program, which was brought into life back in 2019, has proven to be instrumental in our efforts to support our people to “be and perform at their best” while balancing their act between personal and professional life.

We believe that has added value and has accelerated our efforts in making KPMG one of the best places to be. This is the reason why we are staying focused on our wellbeing strategy acknowledging that this is not a one-time task but an ongoing process.

Making an impact with our people

The ongoing professional and personal development of our people is a priority! We do this by heavily investing in our learning and development strategy and by giving emphasis on constructive performance management. At the same time, we understand the importance of fair reward and recognition for all individuals. Our Open Performance Development framework enables our people to develop through ongoing feedback received not only from their performance managers but from their peers as well. Our learning strategy completes the development part of our people by giving them the opportunity to attend a variety of trainings and workshops organised every year, ranging from technical to soft skills.

What is more, looking into the future and focusing on quality as mandated by our strategy, we are working on people workload allocation while providing fair opportunities for valuable experience. This involves setting up robust capacity and resource management processes as well as a relentless focus on recruitment and talent attraction. Through our recruitment strategy and allies we have established with well-known universities, both in Cyprus and abroad, we manage to recruit and onboard a high number of both newly graduates and experienced professionals.

Being one of the largest professional services firms on the island and recognised as an employer of choice, we continuously strive to empower our people and create an environment that enables everyone to be at their best.
