Driving real change in financial services
Powered by KPMG Digital Village, the Global FinTech Hackcelerator is an exciting annual programme that gathers start-ups from around the world to develop innovative real-world solutions to the most complex challenges facing the financial industry. Launched in 2017, the competition invites fintech firms and solution providers to address problem statements collected from financial institutions and industry players.
Outcome
KPMG Digital Village powered the Global Fintech Hackcelerator programme for four years running.
For each run of the competition, 20 finalists were selected from 3 focus areas and a general category and worked with real client owners to contextualise their solutions to client and industry needs. This offered the start-ups the opportunity to receive funding of up to S$200,000 to develop a contextualised proof of concept.
The finalists from the 2017 Global FinTech Hackcelerator saw tangible outcomes from their participation. Some went on to work with corporates to pilot their solution, and others successfully exited via an acquisition.
The 3 winners from the 2018 programme, BetterTradeOff, Billion Group and Mosabi, worked with industry champions to adopt and integrate their solutions into real-life business applications.
