Martin Vipond

Martin has twelve years of experience within the financial services sector in both the UK and South Africa where his primary specialisation is in leading major IT projects. Some of his experience around the financial sector includes: The outsourcing of an application maintenance function of a South African bank to an India-based IT firm, and the procurement of various systems including a new core administration platform for a South African insurer. The development of a strategy and roadmap for the establishment of an Enterprise Information Management Centre of Excellence (“CoE”) for one of South Africa’s “Big Four” banks. The development of a target operating model for the Finance department of a South African bank which involved the IT stream looking at high-level financial data models, and utilising IT application architecture required to support the proposed new Finance model. The development of a business case for a major South African bank to implement an IT testing centre of excellence. This was characterised by applying industry specific trends and testing best practices to the environment of the client to ensure the approval of the business case and investment in this strategic initiative.
