Joubert is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He joined KPMG in 1997 and completed his training contract in 1999. Subsequent to the completion of his training contract he was seconded to KPMG’s Birmingham office in the United Kingdom for three months, where he gained valuable international experience.
Upon returning to South Africa, Joubert joined KPMG’s Tax practice in 2000. He completed his master’s degree in taxation in 2004, and wrote his thesis, titled “Mergers and Acquisitions: Analysing the Tax Implications for Multinational Corporations.”
Joubert has been appointed as South African Head of Tax and Legal during 2018 and the Head of Tax and Legal in Southern Africa during 2022. Prior to his appointment as Head of Tax, Joubert was the Tax and Legal COO.
Joubert assists clients in managing their taxes on a multi-disciplinary basis and in improving tax governance. Joubert has 25 years of tax, tax audit and tax accounting experience across many industries such as the financial services, banking, mining, manufacturing, insurance, automotive and property industries. Joubert has a strong accounting background and has performed multidisciplinary tax audits for clients (including large listed clients) across various sectors and industries.
Joubert is extensively involved in a large number of local and internationally listed entities. Joubert has presented and provided numerous tax workshops, training and updates to clients, universities as well as internally within KPMG.
