Hot on the heels of the party conferences, we are now in the run-up to the Autumn Statement which is scheduled for 22 November 2023. It is a gloomy autumnal outlook for the Chancellor with an economy on the cusp of recession, public debt and debt interest the highest they have been in generations, inflation proving to be far stickier than anticipated and the tax take at its highest level for 70 years. In line with the general economic outlook, the Autumn Statement might be a similarly dour affair and we are also expecting it to be relatively light on tax announcements. This article explains how you can find our commentary following the Autumn Statement speech and also provides our predictions on what might feature in it.
