Usman Wahid

Usman is a technology and outsourcing lawyer with expertise in software arrangements (licensing, SaaS, licensing disputes), technology infrastructure arrangements (networks, data centres and IaaS) and emerging technology (digital and artificial intelligence). Usman advises clients on new business ventures and changes to their existing business models through the exploitation of technology, covering the full spectrum of related legal areas, including data, consumer and IP.

He also advises clients on their legal and regulatory risks as they relate to technology in regulated sectors. In the outsourcing sector, he has acted for clients on their global and strategic information technology outsourcing and business process outsourcing arrangements. 

Usman leads the Data, Digital and Technology team for KPMG Law. He is a member of the firm's FinTech, global business services, chief information officer advisory, cloud transformation and emerging technology risk groups. Usman's legal work is enhanced through his experience of KPMG's extensive technology and risk consulting practices. Examples of this include the large scale contract risk projects he has delivered for clients seeking to transform their approach to contract risk across their entire supply chain. 

Usman has been independently recognised by both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as leading lawyer in Information Technology.

He has extensive experience in the banking; insurance; energy; infrastructure and retail sectors. He has over 17 years experience as a qualified lawyer, gained through 2 years as an in-house legal counsel, 14 years in a prestigious London law firm and since then at KPMG.
