Sara Smith

Director, Dispute Advisory

KPMG in the UK

Sara has over 20 years’ experience of working with clients in addressing a wide variety of disputes, including (but not limited to) those arising from breaches of contract, shareholder disputes, business interruption matters and private client disputes. She also has considerable experience of working with both claimant parties and Acquiring Authorities in relation to compulsory purchase order compensation claims. Sara’s experience spans across all major sectors, including retail, consumer goods, energy and natural resources, hospitality, leisure, healthcare and property.

Sara’s clients range from private individuals and owner-managed businesses, through to large corporates and public sector bodies.

Sara is frequently instructed to provide advice to clients at an early stage in their disputes to inform the client’s approach or support settlement negotiations. Where relevant, Sara is also able to draw on her investigative skills and those of her Corporate Intelligence and Forensic Technology colleagues to support the client in addressing its issue. When cases move into a formal dispute process, in addition to providing expert advice, Sara has been appointed both as a party expert and as an Independent Expert, and has given evidence in the High Court.
