Jonathan Downer

After training and qualifying as a chartered accountant with a small firm in Kent, Jonathan joined KPMG in 1998 and has over 28 years of experience as an auditor. He was made a partner of the UK firm in 2006. Between 2009 and 2012 Jonathan was seconded to KPMG China, based in Hong Kong, where he worked on a variety of multi-national audits in China and across Asia.

Jonathan has extensive experience in leading large global audit teams across several sectors including real estate, business services, media, leisure, transport and mining.

Jonathan has strong links with our global KPMG network both through his current and past audit engagements with international operations and through his previous and current participation on KPMG’s global Real Estate, Airline and Energy and Natural Resources networks.

Jonathan was a member of our Audit Executive from 2018 until 2022, most recently leading our Corporates Listed & Regulated audit practice in the UK.

Jonathan is a member of the ICAEW Council, the governing body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
