Luuk is a partner in KPMG's healthcare practice. He works for healthcare providers, medtech and diagnostics companies. In doing so, he focuses on both strategy and change management processes. Before KPMG, he worked as a strategy consultant and in hospital management. Characteristic of his approach is striking a balance between the analytically correct answer to an issue and the opportunities to actually bring about change. The goal of 'getting off the paper' is paramount in this respect.
Examples of engagements are:
- Supporting hospitals in the development of their long-term strategy, including the translation and transition to implementation. Reasoning from vision and facts, often in intensive cooperation with both the own organisation and the most important (external) stakeholders, so that implementation can proceed 'seamlessly' as soon as the strategy has been determined.
- Merger support for various care institutions: administrative and legal mergers, realisation of synergy potential in operational management, guidance of care professionals/teams to achieve unity in care models.
- Various issues around shared care and cooperation in the chain, including transfer of care from 3rd to 2nd line, and from 2nd to 1st line, including technical integration and working out the various options for exchanging (patient) data.
- Process improvements in hospitals, including the introduction and improvement of the 'data-driven performance dialogue' on the shop floor to actually realise the improvement potential. Various focus areas: cost reduction, process optimisation, planning optimisation with introduction of learning algorithms to continuously improve.
- Implementation of value-driven care, with setting the right indicators, unlocking the systems, data analysis, dashboarding and introduction of the improvement dialogue.
