Rutger is a senior strategy advisor within financial services, responsible for the insurance sector of KPMG’s Strategy and Operations practice. As an expert in the financial services industry, Rutger is passionate about helping both financial institutions and communities prepare for and cope with the major transformations taking place in the financial services industry. Through his work in insurance, banking and asset management, Rutger aims to ensure both financial institutions and their customers are prepared for a secure and prosperous future.
Until April 2020 he was one of the managing directors of Accenture Netherlands’ Financial Services team, responsible for the Dutch insurance practice. Before Accenture he worked 6 years at Boer en Croon Corporate Strategy as a senior strategy consultant and one of the leaders of its financial services practice. He started his career in 1998 at Andersen Consulting, working on process improvement, systems integration and outsourcing in financial services, mostly international wholesale banks.
Rutger works with his clients in three ways. At the strategic level to deal with innovations, digitization, new trends & developments and regulatory and demographic change. At a technical level to embrace the digital and agile way of working and at the same time cope with existing legacy infrastructure. At a customer level to help firms (digitally) connect clients, agents and partners. In particular, he helps his clients address complex issues with regards to innovation, digitization and operational excellence - setting a strategy, then bringing together the best team to make it happen.
Rutger studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam, Strategic Management and Organization as specialization. Away from work he enjoys his family, running, field hockey and padel.
