Against the backdrop of record tax collections crossing the RM200 billion threshold and a broad-based economic recovery, Soh Lian Seng, Head of Tax at KPMG in Malaysia, highlighted that the achievement reflects LHDN’s improved efficiency without the introduction of major new broad-based taxes. This performance is underpinned by stronger governance, digitalization and data analytics, which have supported better compliance and enforcement outcomes. He shared that sustaining this momentum will depend on trust, consistency in policy application, and a fair tax system.
