National bowling champion, Siw Sing Hie based in KPMG’s office in Kuching, was given time off to train and compete in the inaugural Deaf SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur, where she bagged a silver medal in the Doubles event and a bronze in the Trios bowling event. She then went on to represent Malaysia and brought home a gold medal in the 24th Summer Deaflympics.

Health and well-being

KPMG professionals enjoy the flexibility of working from home and in the office on a rotational basis, subject to pre-determined policies within the respective business units.

The firm is committed to ensuring a positive and healthy lifestyle for our people. The Employee Assistance Program provides KPMG professionals with access to mental health support to enable a supportive workplace.

To encourage our people to be active and stay healthy, the firm organizes sports and recreational activities to bring our people together and showcase their talent beyond work. The firm also arranges treasure hunt games for our people to socially engage with colleagues across the business units.

After a two-year hiatus due to the global pandemic, we organized the Inter-Department Games (IDG) in October 2022. The IDG is a firm-wide sports event held over a month where our people compete in four teams in these activities: chess, carrom, pool, Dota 2, table tennis, bowling, netball, volleyball, futsal, badminton and basketball. The winning team is determined based on the most accumulated points, along with a trophy to recognize an IDG Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year.

In FY22, we organized five yoga sessions for our people to unwind and destress after work – with four out of the five sessions held physically at the Petaling Jaya office. The yoga sessions were led by instructor Atilia Haron from Hippie Hub Yogaonethatiwant Studios.

In September 2022, KPMG offices nationwide were closed for one week in celebration of our Golden Week where our people were given the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and recharge with their loved ones. This is paid time-off and is not deducted from the staff’s annual leave entitlement.

We enable our people to take up to 3 days MC per year without the need of submitting an official medical chit from the doctor.

Continuous learning

The Citizen Developer Program (CDP) is led by the Lighthouse and ITS departments, aimed at upskilling KPMG professionals through low-code/no-code learning and development. This program kickstarted in January 2022 with 109 participants learning innovative tips using platforms such as Power Apps and Power Automate to digitalize their day-to-day work processes.

To support lifelong learning and encourage our people to continue developing professionally, we offer sponsorships for professional examinations, covering:

  • • Funding to pursue a professional qualification of their choice
  • • Up to five (5) days of paid study leave for each examination paper
  • • One (1) day of paid exam leave for each paper
  • • Workshop leave for classes on weekdays
  • • Cash incentives for excellent performance in examination

We provide opportunities for our people to enhance their career and personal growth via the Global Opportunities (GO) secondment program, which can amplify their professional credentials internationally while broadening their global perspective and cultural capabilities. In FY22, KPMG in Malaysia received two inbound employees from India and South Korea, while a total of 26 employees were seconded to five countries, which are Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
