Please be notified that on 10 March 2025, the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) issued a public notice on the submission of Beneficial Ownership Information to Registrar of Companies.
Submission of beneficial ownership information is a mandatory legal requirement for all local companies in Tanzania pursuant to Section 459A of the Companies Act, Cap 212 and the Beneficial Ownership Regulations of 2023, published through Government Notice No. 714 dated 22 September 2023.
The notice informs the public that as of 15 April 2025, any local company that has not submitted its beneficial ownership information will not be able to perform any transactions with the Registrar until it submits this information. Transactions that will be restricted include the submission of annual returns, changes in company particulars, requests for company status reports (custom searches), registration of charges, perusals, requests for access rights (for those who have lost access rights to the Online Registration System Accounts), and certification of copies of original documents.
