James has deep expertise in international tax, Tax Reimagined services, tax optimisation reviews, tax due diligence, tax controversy and dispute resolution, strategic tax planning, tax policy formulation, and the design of tax optimal supply chains. He has been instrumental in helping clients navigate complex and rapidly changing tax and regulatory environments while driving value through practical, forward-looking solutions. He is also a regular commentator on fiscal policy on various media channels.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and Statistics (First Class Honours) from Kenyatta University and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA K). He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), where he serves on the Public Finance and Taxation Committee. A two-time recipient of KPMG’s CEO Award for top performers, he is recognised for his technical excellence, strong client focus, and commitment to developing our people.
Furthermore, James is passionate about giving back and currently volunteers as a mentor with various NGOs. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching documentaries on topical issues, and mentoring students.
