      The KPMG NextGen Tax Series, launched in 2022, provides a platform for tax professionals to access cutting-edge insights and thought leadership in the field of Irish taxation, and global business developments.

      Through engaging discussions and interactive sessions, NextGen attendees hear from KPMG experts and guest speakers on the latest developments and strategic trends shaping the tax landscape. The series also fosters valuable networking opportunities for tax professionals across industries to exchange experiences, build connections and reconnect with former colleagues.

      Navigating the latest wave of change


      At our most recent NextGen Tax Series event in February 2026, we partnered with the Women in Tax in Ireland (WiTii) network to host Navigating the Latest Wave of Change.

      The event featured a multi‑disciplinary KPMG panel discussion with Nicole Constant, John Galligan, Caitríona McConnell, and Eva Baker, who shared insights on Pillar Two compliance, expanding employer tax and reporting obligations, and recent VAT developments, emphasising why staying ahead of change is essential for tax and finance professionals.

      We were also delighted to be joined by Hazel Ahern‑Flynn, Senior Economist at Ibec, who provided her perspectives on the Irish economy and the key trends shaping businesses today.

      M&A multi-expert insights & economic outlook


      In November 2024, at our NextGen Tax Series event, held in collaboration with Women in Tax in Ireland (WiTii), we heard from a multi-expert panel that shared practical insights on current M&A trends and the issues shaping recent transactions. 

      Kate Newman, Ciara Devane, Siobhan Donlevy, and Diana McCabe spoke about sector developments, regulatory considerations, and the steps organisations had been taking to become deal-ready. 

      Hazel Ahern-Flynn, Ibec provided an economic overview, highlighting the key challenges and opportunities influencing the Irish economy and how wider conditions had impacted M&A activity.

      Revenue Interventions, Tax Appeal Commission decisions and relevant court judgements


      In June 2024, we hosted a dynamic NextGen Tax Series event focused on Revenue interventions and recent determinations by the Tax Appeal Commission and high-profile court rulings.

      KPMG experts, including Ciara Devane and John Galligan, provided practical insights on the increasing risks and costs tied to Revenue scrutiny while senior counsel Frank Mitchell and KPMG Revenue Interventions expert Liam Grimes discussed the impact of landmark court judgments on the changing tax landscape for organisations.

      Let there be change: Tax digitalisation


      In November 2023, we collaborated with the Women in Tax in Ireland (WiTii) network for a multi‑disciplinary panel discussion with KPMG’s Caitríona Sweeney, Susan Moylan, and Aileen Carroll who shared insights on KPMG’s digitalisation journey with Tax Connect, our web-based platform for CT compliance. 

      We were also joined by Soapbox Labs Niamh Bushnell as our special guest on the future of AI in education and wider society.

      BEPS 2.0 and other European Commission initiatives


      In April 2023, the NextGen Tax Series featured KPMG’s technical experts Raluca Enache and Lorraine Mulligan who explored the latest updates in BEPS 2.0 and other significant European Commission initiatives.

      Neil Casey and Nicole Constant provided expert perspectives on emerging trends and strategies in transfer pricing dispute resolution, while Conor Holland shared his experience helping businesses navigate ESG, climate risk, and sustainable finance reporting.

      The tax function of the future


      In 2022, we launched the inaugural NextGen Tax Series event at our innovation hub, Platform X. The event brought together leading minds for an energetic, interactive discussion exploring the latest trends shaping tax transformation and technology, alongside key insights on the Finance Bill.

      A global organisation’s head of tax shared forward-looking perspectives on the future of the tax function, shedding light on global tax reform and the evolving developments that are redefining the tax landscape. KPMG’s Lorraine Mulligan, Claire Waters, Susan Buggle and Tom Woods led the event.
