New research from KPMG reveals the extent to which artificial intelligence (AI) is being deployed in Irish organisations’ finance operations – with compelling levels of ROI and growing confidence in its impact.
The report, titled “AI in Finance”, draws insights from 1,013 senior leaders across 20 countries including Ireland and shows that 86% of businesses in Ireland are now using AI across the wider finance function, a significant increase from 54% in 2024 and ahead of the global average of 75%.
At the same time, 95% of leaders say the return on investment (ROI) from AI initiatives is meeting or exceeding expectations, up sharply from just 49% two years ago.
AI adoption is not limited to a single area of finance, with organisations applying the technology across a broad range of activities, including financial planning and reporting, financial and commercial analysis, and risk management.
Commenting on research finding, Keith Stafford, IT Audit Partner at KPMG in Ireland said, “We are seeing organisations move rapidly beyond pilots to embedding AI at scale across the finance function. The focus for businesses is now on driving measurable value, while ensuring governance and controls evolve in step with that growth.”
