      Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) updates

      AIF Rulebook - May 2026

      Ireland has transposed AIFMD II into its domestic framework through updated regulations and a revised AIF Rulebook issued by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), accompanied by its feedback statement on Consultation Paper 162 (CP162). This represents the most substantial update to Ireland’s alternative funds regime in more than ten years, with the changes taking effect from 05 May 2026.

      Key actions and deadlines

      • Map

        Map products to proposed SFDR 2.0 categories and review ESG disclosures and ESG‑rating usage ahead of the ESG Ratings Regulation applying from July 2026.

      • Select & document

        Review board composition and suitability assessment processes in line with the revised EBA‑ESMA Guidelines, with consultation responses due by 25 May 2026.

      • Reassess

        Reassess research unbundling, disclosure practices and market‑abuse controls ahead of MiFID II targeted amendments and EU Listing Act changes applying from June 2026.

      • Update

        Update customer due diligence, sanctions screening and governance arrangements to reflect incoming EU AMLA standards and CBI supervisory expectations.
