“Had someone told me a few years ago that today I’d be working for one of the world’s leading audit firms, in the Audit department and specifically in the field of business sustainability, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. And that’s because I didn’t follow the typical path most people take to enter the audit profession.
Before discovering the world of finance and business, I first explored the world of applied engineering, a field governed by physical laws and endless numerical equations. What did I take away from that experience? To always look beyond the surface.
My career at KPMG began in early 2023 in the Advisory department, specifically in Internal Audit and Risk Management. That’s where I realized how important it is to deeply understand processes and to 'see the story behind the numbers.' I quickly learned that the goal isn’t just to identify what’s not working but to suggest how things can be improved.
In mid-2024, I had the opportunity to transition internally to KPMG’s Audit department, focusing on ESG Assurance services. It’s a field that requires much more than just strong technical skills. The way I see it, what is most essential for success in this field is the ability to assess according to international sustainability standards and to understand the bigger picture, the impact a business has on the environment, the society, and its people.
As an auditor, my role isn’t to influence decisions, but to evaluate the level of transparency, consistency, and quality of information in line with audit standards. But what matters most to me is the interaction: creating a shared understanding where requirements don’t become just another burden in our day-to-day work.
At KPMG, I found more than just a job. I found a big family where learning, collaboration, and growth never stop. Every day brings a new challenge, along with a new opportunity to become better, not only as professionals but as people. With that mindset, I move forward with passion and determination, knowing that true value lies in the journey we take together."
