Michel is a colleague who is eager, enthusiastic, works hard, and always seeks to learn while also guiding new colleagues. He is full of energy and with a strong will to grow.
“I’ve been working at KPMG since August 2022, and honestly, the time has gone by much faster than I expected. I still remember my interview and the phone call with the job offer as if it were yesterday. At that exact moment, the song ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen was playing and I guess that was a sign that something great was about to begin!
Encouraged by my family and after several conversations with people in the field and at university, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at Audit. And I’m really glad I did, because from day one I realized that here, no two days are ever the same.
Every project is a new challenge, an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow. The drive for continuous improvement, professional development, and the prospect of progress are what motivate me to keep moving forward with energy and focus. When I first started, I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to be part of the audit teams I’m fortunate to work with today.
Of course, there have been times when the pressure and workload rise sharply. But in those moments, I know I can rely on my team to face every challenge together. Personally, this motivates me to keep up my pace and strive for the best possible outcome, as auditing is, in essence, a team ‘sport.’ Every challenge makes us better, and the team always comes first - you support it, and it supports you.
If I could offer one piece of advice to someone just starting out in Audit, it would be to stay eager, be mindful of what they’re doing, and, most importantly, not be afraid to ask questions. After all, as we say, ‘by asking, you find your way,’ and that’s something I still apply every day. I try to learn from my mistakes, stay positive, and seek that sense of accomplishment each time a project is successfully completed.
Looking ahead, I’d like to keep growing, digging deeper into specialized areas depending on the industry and audit focus. My goal is to continually strengthen my skills and contribute even more to the team’s efficiency.
When I tell someone that I work at KPMG, especially in Audit, I often notice a slightly puzzled reaction, maybe because they’re not familiar with the field. But if I had to describe my experience in just three words, they would be cool, team, and satisfaction. Because, in the end, what truly makes our work special are the people, and that special feeling that, every single day, we’re getting a little better, together.”
