The aim of federal funding for energy and resource efficiency in the economy is to reduce companies’ CO₂ emissions through investment in climate-friendly technologies, with a view to achieving greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045. In addition, the aim is to increase the share of renewable energy in process heat and to support the German economy in implementing its decarbonisation strategies.

Are funds from the EEW funding programme being used lawfully?
To ensure that the funds disbursed are used lawfully, the Federal Audit Office calls for unannounced on-site inspections to be carried out.
What we offer
Our experts have extensive experience in carrying out on-site inspections as part of audits. Drawing on their expertise in data verification, energy technology and the energy sector, they have developed a plan for how these inspections can be carried out efficiently and to high quality standards, in order to assess the use of funding. The aim was to take into account the requirements and existing experience of the German Energy Agency (dena) and to integrate these into our approach.
A key challenge: the auditors’ comprehensive technical expertise
The implementation of the VOK requires the nationwide processing of a large number of audit cases, involving a wide variety of technical measures which can vary significantly depending on the funding module. The audit cases are selected on a random basis and must be fully prepared, carried out and followed up within defined timeframes. In doing so, the specialist auditors meet high standards in terms of qualifications, data protection and impartiality.
Our contribution
Our team takes full responsibility for organising and carrying out on-site inspections in accordance with dena’s guidelines. This includes, in particular, scheduling the inspections, liaising with the companies being inspected, and preparing for them on the basis of the case files provided. Furthermore, we ensure that the inspection results are documented in full and submitted on time.
