Following a special audit by the Europeansupervisory authority, the bank was required to conduct a fundamental review of its data management. In addition to regulatory compliance, the increasing technical complexity placed high demands on data quality, availability and governance.
From a compliance issue to a strategic data agenda
KPMG used the regulatory impetus to develop a comprehensive data strategy in collaboration with the client. Key elements included establishing a Data Office, introducing a strong CDO role and defining clear roles and responsibilities. At the same time, the importance of data management was embedded right up to board level.

The bank now has a functioning data management system with clear structures and a long-term focus. High-quality, reliable data forms the basis for better management, reporting and the use of future technologies such as artificial intelligence.
