KPMG's balance confirmation portal is a digital platform that enables our clients to confirm their account balances with third parties - such as creditors and debtors - efficiently and securely for the audit.

With our central checking tool  „KPMG Clara“ we have already taken the audit to a new digital level and other digital audit tools are optimising the process.

How does KPMG's balance confirmation portal work?

When a confirmation request is made via the portal, an e-mail with an access link to the electronic balance confirmation portal is automatically sent to the confirming party - for example the debtor or creditor. This link takes you to an entry screen for the balance confirmation, where you answer the questions and then receive a TAN by e-mail to verify your identity. After entering the TAN, the confirmation can be sent.

The confirming party can leave the balance confirmation portal at any time and continue processing via the link sent to it until the specified end date of the third-party confirmation action.

In addition to the option of sending and managing enquiries directly via the balance confirmation portal, KPMG also uses the tool to organise and manage the sending of enquiries by e-mail or post.

For email requests via the balance confirmation portal, the confirming party receives an email confirmation to which a confirmation letter is attached. It is sent from a unique e-mail address that is permanently linked to the respective balance confirmation portal (KPMG-Confirmation<unique portal number>@kpmg.de). If the confirming party replies to this e-mail address, the reply is automatically assigned directly to the correct balance confirmation action.

      Data security and data protection

The data provided by our clients and via the portal, such as names and addresses of customers or suppliers, are processed and stored in accordance with strict data protection guidelines. To ensure the authenticity of the responses, we use a simple TAN procedure that is used when the portal enquiry is used. Separate consent under data protection law is not required for this.

Detailed information on KPMG's data protection provisions can be found on our website.
