For many companies in the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence is the key driver of growth. 73 per cent of executives see AI as the most important source of revenue – ahead of the cloud or data centres. Many therefore anticipate the start of a new supercycle. Our English-language Global Semiconductor Industry Outlook 2026 shows how AI-driven demand is shaping investment, product strategies and supply chains worldwide, and where new risks are emerging – for example, due to geopolitical tensions, energy requirements or skills shortages. The study is based on a global survey of 151 executives from the semiconductor industry.

      Key findings at a glance

      • Storage solutions are catching up with microprocessors in terms of growth.
      • Flexible and resilient supply chains are becoming increasingly important from a strategic perspective.
      • Optimism in the sector is growing despite global uncertainties.
