Current Edition 2023
The current KPMG Sustainability Report is called "Our Impact Report" for the first time this year. The report describes our understanding of sustainability in Germany and at the same time our alignment with the global sustainability programme Our Impact Plan. With the new orientation, we want to show even more transparently how we achieve a positive impact on society and the environment and define four fields of action for this purpose: Planet, People, Prosperity and Governance. For each field of action, we set ourselves commitments and demonstrate with concrete measures how we are fulfilling our responsibility. In line with our value "For Better. We do what really matters.
The most important topics in the 2021 business year
Climate change is and remains the greatest challenge of our time. Combating social injustice and inequality of income are also issues that will lead to a fundamental transformation of the economy under the catchword ESG - Environment, Social, Governance. We are addressing this with our global ESG strategy and are significantly expanding our ESG client solutions: Over the next three years, we will invest 1.5 billion US dollars in ESG activities in the global KPMG network. Read more about this in the Prosperity chapter.
Achieving our own global climate protection goal is currently the biggest task for us at KPMG: Together with the other member firms of the global KPMG organisation, we have set ourselves the goal of reducing our emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and becoming climate neutral worldwide. To this end, we have launched a new environmental programme in Germany. More information on this can be found in the Planet chapter of the report.
We also report on the social commitment of our employees - for example in the Volunteer Vision commitment programme or our pro bono counselling - and show how valuable this is for those who receive help, but also for our employees.
Our measures on mental health as part of our health management, 'social origin' as a new dimension of diversity and the support of employees for employees after the flood disaster in Germany are further important topics in the Our Impact Report 2021.
