“Banks’ securities business will continue to change and evolve as a result of ESG and further regulatory complexities (MiFID II amendments/RIS, MaComp, Disclosure Regulation, etc.). The workload for banks remains high.”
Mathis Frömel is a Senior Manager at KPMG, Financial Services, and specialises in the area of ‘securities business’. Consequently, for over five years, Mathis has primarily been supporting private banks with regulatory and transformational issues relating to investment advice and portfolio management. These include, for example, the implementation and optimisation of MiFID II requirements, MaComp changes, ESG in securities distribution, the Disclosure Regulation and greenwashing.
Mathis has been overseeing and supporting the initial implementation of MiFID II and MiFIR requirements at various banks since 2017. Since then, he has overseen several sanity checks, optimisations and further implementations in this field. His focus has increasingly been on investor protection aspects relating to suitability, client profiling, target market criteria and adviser training.
