Please describe your role at KPMG in Cyprus and the kind of work you do.

I lead the SAP team at the Technology Consulting department. My main responsibility is to empower the team to always be the trusted advisor for our customers on their digital transformation journey.  Another equally important responsibility is to establish a close collaboration with other KPMG member firms in the SAP area.  Finally, I am contributing to the KPMG SAP Innovation Lab in the SAP Technology area, as I bring with me 25 years of experience working at various engineering positions at SAP SE.

What are some of the challenges clients might face when implementing digital transformation initiatives?

When we talk about digital transformation, we mean the changes coming to technology and business processes. The first challenge is to answer how to achieve this transformation. There is indeed a knowledge gap and in some cases skills shortage. Also, organisations need to overcome the cultural resistance and steer the change management process. The benefits of transforming and becoming more agile in the daily work need to be explained upfront. This will ensure that everyone will feel important, and everyone is important, contributing to this transformation. Financial reasons can also be a challenge for many organisations.

What is your advice to organisations that want to achieve their technology transformation but have limited resources?

Shifting to the cloud and utilising technologies and solutions based on Software as a Service (SaaS), can really help. This allows organisations to focus entirely on their business. Using Best Practices activation can also speed-up the transformation. SaaS solutions allow an organisation to always be on the latest software release offering the latest innovations and regulatory requirements. You can scale up or scale down depending on specific needs and integration with other SaaS solutions are typically offered out of the box. Typically, SaaS subscriptions have a lower cost as opposed to other alternatives, so this is very attractive for small businesses as well.

What excites you most about leading the SAP team at KPMG in Cyprus?

Working with a team with diverse skills, ideas and experiences and proven deep knowledge on business processes, is the perfect combination for offering our customers the best-in-class service on SAP solutions that will take them to the future with confidence.

Working on cutting edge SAP technologies is also exciting. Continuous learning and sharing this knowledge are of profound importance. Our goal is to pass this knowledge and expertise to our customers and show them new innovative ways of performing their business.
