Please describe your role at KPMG in Cyprus and the kind of work you do.

As the Head of the Advisory function at KPMG in Cyprus, I manage a consulting team that primarily serves banks and other organisations offering financial services. My main objective is to develop and implement strategies that expand our service offerings ensuring that clients receive high-quality advice, drive business growth, and cultivate a culture of trust, loyalty and collaboration. At the same time, staying ahead on market trends and industry developments is necessary to maintain a competitive edge. All the above are implemented in collaboration with the Advisory Board Members and our talented people.

What do you love most about your work?

What I find most fulfilling about my work, is the constant evolution of the advisory services. As our clients confront new challenges, it enables us onto an endless journey of professional growth and development, which I personally find exciting. Additionally, leading a team to success, whether it's meeting project deadlines, exceeding targets, or delivering exceptional results, that sense of achievement that comes from seeing the collective efforts of the team translate into tangible outcomes, for me is exhilarating.

Do companies in Cyprus set as priority to transform their businesses and where do you see that they place their priorities?

Most of the organisations in Cyprus have embarked, in one way or another, on a transformational journey. At different scales and objectives, but certainly targeting to transform their operations, services and products to become more effective and competitive. Lots of initiatives are customer-centric, which I believe should be the cornerstone of every transformation initiative, enabled by technology. With the exponential advancement of technology, the business objective is becoming more achievable facilitating the integration to a broader, digital economy. Each industry and business has different needs and requirements. What we see in common though, which should be a priority, is the extensive need for automation, a data-driven business run, and the utilisation of new technologies like GenAI.

What excites you most about leading our people?

Our people are our most valuable asset. As a leading advisory service provider on the island with a team of over 180 individuals, it is a privilege to lead and interact daily with intelligent and talented individuals with exceptional personalities. For me, what excites me the most, is the opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life. Whether it's guiding them towards achieving their professional goals, creating a collaborative culture, driving success, fostering a supportive work environment, or helping them develop new skills, the ability to influence and inspire others can be fulfilling.

In your view, how are KPMG people making the difference?

Our people are known for their impactful contributions in various areas. By providing expert advice and guidance, we contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Additionally, we engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, aimed at making a positive impact on our society and the environment. This includes pro-bono services and volunteering efforts that align with our values and contribute to the greater good.

What advice would you give someone seeking a career at KPMG?

To grasp and embrace the opportunity given, to push themselves further, to develop professionally and personally, and last but not least to make friends. What I always convey as a personal advice to all our newcomers, is to fully grasp and embrace the opportunity at hand, to strive for personal and professional growth, and most importantly, to cultivate lasting friendships. As I often say, "At KPMG we give you the opportunity to build brick by brick your career home that you will live forever."
