Ashvin is passionate about private enterprises and their shareholders. He has advised business owners, high net worth families and family offices with tax planning, estate planning, tax dispute resolution, philanthropy structures and corporate reorganizations for over a decade. He takes a common sense approach to tax planning matters that aims to distill the complexity of tax legislation into practical business advice. He has appeared before superior courts and the Tax Court of Canada.

Having an entrepreneurial background in startup enterprises, Ashvin takes a keen interest in emerging and high growth companies and has supported founders and investors through all stages of the startup life cycle. Drawing on his background in board and community work, he advises charities, foundations and emerging businesses on corporate governance issues. As a Certified Executor Advisor (CEA), he further guides executors and trustees with respect to the exercise of fiduciary duty and the administration of estates and trusts, including the complex tax rules applicable to trusts.

Ashvin attended law school at the University of Toronto, where he won the award for the highest place in tax and estate planning. An eager speaker and writer on tax matters, Ashvin is one of the top five contributors to Canadian Tax Focus, a publication of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
