Imam Hasan is Partner in Charge of the Department of Professional Practice for Audit and Assurance in Canada. Imam has the overall responsibility for professional practice and audit quality matters including the interpretation and implementation of accounting standards, audit standards, and related regulatory matters.
Imam has more than three decades of auditing, accounting and securities experience as the lead or engagement quality control review partner on some of KPMG’s largest Canadian and U.S. public entities, with deep knowledge across a number of industries including energy, pipeline, power, manufacturing, technology and agri-business. He is an accredited Canadian Securities Partner and U.S. SEC Reviewing Partner.
Prior to his current role, Imam served as the Business Unit Professional Practice Partner for Calgary and spent time on rotation in KPMG's U.S. Department of Professional Practice in New York, where he was a member of the SEC Practice Advisory and Accounting Groups.
Imam is highly skilled in IFRS and U.S. GAAP financial reporting frameworks, ISAs and PCAOB auditing standards and Canadian and U.S. securities matters.
