With over 30 years of sales tax experience, Dianne is a Partner at KPMG in Canada’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Indirect tax practice. She has extensive experience in the complex issues surrounding Canada’s sales taxes. Dianne’s broad range of knowledge on sales tax issues encompasses a wide range of areas including real property, manufacturing, telecommunication services, and the food industry.
Prior to becoming a Partner, Dianne was the sales tax lead with respect to advising telecommunication service, software, food, and real estate clients. She has been providing sales tax advice on complex issues to one of Canada's largest telecommunications companies for the past 15 years, including a review of the application of GST/HST, QST and PST on all revenue streams including promotions specific to the telecommunications industry.
Dianne works very closely with KPMG’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice, routinely assisting with due diligence projects in all business sectors to establish any potential risk areas. In addition, Dianne also acts as a liaison between clients and taxing authorities where she has prepared ruling requests, disputed potential and formal assessments, and prepared notices of objections to appeal tax assessments. She has also been involved in advising clients of potential tax planning opportunities as well as potential areas of non-compliance with a view to reducing any potential tax exposures.
