Tanzeela is a Partner with our KPMG Family Office team, specializing in Cross Border Tax. With more than 16 years of experience, Tanzeela serves cross border private clients with a focus on high net worth individuals and family offices.
By working in the cross border personal tax area focusing on family offices, Tanzeela has developed technical skills in complex personal tax matters. This includes assisting US persons in understanding and managing the complex US anti-deferral tax system for interest in foreign corporations, including the passive foreign investment corporation and controlled foreign corporation regimes; advising US citizens and green card holders on the tax implications arising from expatriation and developing strategies to minimize their tax exposure; assisting clients navigate the US estate and gift tax regime from cross border perspective and assisting with post-mortem US compliance; employment matters; voluntary disclosures; and cross border residency planning.
Tanzeela is also active within the community. She advises on funding strategies for the SAYA School, a charity serving 700+ students in Pakistan. She is involved in Covenant House Toronto’s fundraising projects including the annual executive sleepout. She also runs learning sessions to educate modest-income families on their tax filing obligations, available credits and rebates; as well as financial literacy.
