He provides a full range of trade related services including all aspects of customs law, trade remedies and anti-dumping, international supply chain integrity, sanctions, export controls, controlled goods compliance, contract security, and anti-bribery and corruption. His experience includes assisting companies proactively identify weaknesses in their policies and procedures, internal investigations, and assisting clients with responding to government investigations and verifications.
Beyond traditional trade and customs work, Robert has also both assisted public purchasers in structuring procurements to ensure compliance with government treaty obligations, but has also assisted suppliers in challenging those procurements that fall short. This includes representing entities in some of Canada’s largest defence related procurements.
Robert has represented his clients in submissions to government regulatory bodies, including the Canada Border Services Agency. He also has represented clients in litigation before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal.
Throughout it all, Robert has always maintained that the key consideration is driving client value, and helping clients find a way to their desired outcomes in a practical manner that manages and mitigates potential risk.
