At KPMG, giving back is an essential aspect of life and an integral part of our values, culture, and Impact Plan. Through the KPMG Foundation, we want to give our people the opportunity and time to make a real difference in the community and for charities they care about. By giving every person the opportunity to submit a volunteer project, we aim to motivate everyone to become actively involved and make an impact.

Het Berrefonds is a Belgian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families who have lost a child. With deep compassion, the organization provides emotional support and practical tools such as memory boxes, peer gatherings, and opportunities for contact with others who have experienced similar loss. By creating space for remembrance and community, Berrefonds helps families navigate one of life’s most difficult journeys.

One of Berrefonds’ most symbolic initiatives takes place during the Dodentocht, a renowned 100 km walking event in Belgium. For the 2025 edition, Berrefonds organized a group initiative where participants walked in memory of their “sterren­kindje” (star child). This symbolic and connecting action gave families the opportunity to honor their child while finding strength in shared experience.

On Wednesday 6 August 2025, KPMG volunteers joined Berrefonds for the Meet & Greet event leading up to the Dodentocht. With care and dedication, they helped create a warm and supportive atmosphere for the participants, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and prepared for their symbolic journey.

Our volunteers took on a range of tasks, including:

• Setting up bar, tables, chairs, and reception desk
• Preparing the pickup point for tote bags and T-shirts
• Helping with reception, bar, and pickup point
• Taking pictures to capture the spirit of the event
• Cleaning up the location and catering after the gathering

We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers who continue to seize opportunities to make a real difference. By working #Together, we achieve so much more, building stronger connections and supporting our planet in meaningful ways.
