At KPMG, giving back is an essential aspect of life and an integral part of our values, culture, and Impact Plan. Through the KPMG Foundation, we want to give our people the opportunity and time to make a real difference in the community and for charities they care about. By giving every person the opportunity to submit a volunteer project, we aim to motivate everyone to get actively involved and make an impact.
KPMG Foundation Project
Go Ocean is an impact-driven organization based in Ghent, dedicated to making our oceans healthier and more resilient in the face of climate change. With a clear focus on tangible solutions, Go Ocean combines scientifically proven techniques and pioneering pilot projects to restore marine ecosystems both locally and globally.
Their work spans across continents: from coral reef restoration in Indonesia and mangrove reforestation in Madagascar, to innovative pilot projects in Belgium that enhance biodiversity along the North Sea coast. A standout example is the use of eco-concrete harbor blocks, specially designed to support the growth of native marine organisms and foster more biodiverse, nature-inclusive harbors.
Go Ocean’s approach delivers not only measurable ecological benefits, but also meaningful social impact. In southern regions like Madagascar and Indonesia, their projects contribute to local employment, community resilience, and education - highlighting the deep interconnection between environmental and human well-being.
At the core of Go Ocean’s mission is the belief that lasting ocean health can only be achieved through collaboration - by empowering companies and communities to take part in climate action, from financial support to direct involvement in the field.
Making an impact
On Wednesday 18 June 2025, KPMG volunteers joined Go Ocean to support their mission of protecting our oceans and coastal ecosystems. The volunteers spent a half-day collecting plastic waste and debris from the beach.
They brought care, dedication, and teamwork—helping ensure that the beach would be cleaner and safer for marine life and visitors alike. For the local community and environment, these cleanup efforts represent more than just removing trash—they are a vital step toward healthier, more resilient oceans.
We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers who continue to seize opportunities to make a real difference. By working #Together, we achieve so much more, building stronger connections and supporting our planet in meaningful ways.
